Following a Time-tested Charism
and an Ancient Tradition
and an Ancient Tradition
The Conventual Sisters of St Dominic were established as a Religious Community of Diocesan Right under the vigilance of the Bishop of Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia.
Devoted to, and inspired by St Dominic - "Light of the Church and Teacher of Truth" - we strive to imitate him, and to incorporate into our lives the spiritual legacy bestowed by him on the Friars and Sisters of his Order - the Order of Preachers.
The origins of this community are in the enclosed, contemplative tradition of Dominican Nuns in Ireland, which evolved into a certain degree of active work in education in the 19th century. Due to this history and tradition, the Conventual Sisters of St Dominic lean towards the contemplative aspect of the Order's charism, while engaging in some apostolic work.
They live, then, what St. Thomas Aquinas refers to as "the Mixed Life", having a monastic and contemplative life-style in common with the Contemplative Orders, and an apostolic outreach in common with the active Orders (see Charism), including DOMINICAST.
